Sundog appears in the early morning skies above Minnesota

One Minnesota filmer managed to capture a stunning sundog on February 6 as the US was hit with wintry weather and temperatures plummeted.

Footage filmed close to the White Earth Reservation shows the sundog in all its glory spanning across the sky with three points and the Sun seen in the centre.

Sundogs are described as "an atmospheric optical phenomenon that consists of a bright spot to one or both sides of the Sun."
