Suspect’s ‘Santa-antics’ during Fall River drug bust prompt chimney rescue
-----
In what’s being described as “Santa-antics,” officers in Fall River had to rescue a suspect who found himself stuck in a chimney trying to flee from a drug bust on Tuesday night.
33-year-old Robert Langlais is charged with possession of Class A drugs, possession of Class B drugs, and several other charges from outstanding warrants, according to authorities. Details of those warrants weren’t immediately available.
Fall River Police say the Community Action and Suppression Team executed a search warrant at 127 Canal Street and two men fled from the residence via rooftop.
One of the suspects, who eluded capture, jumped from the roof onto a parked vehicle.
The other suspect, later identified as Langlais, “invoked the essence of the seasonal icon,” and tried hiding from officers inside of a chimney, according to police.
However, Langlais became stuck and needed to be extricated by the same detectives he was running from. Body camera video released by Fall River Police shows the tense pursuit.
With the help of the Fall River Fire Department and Fall River EMS, he was rescued and transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
32-year-old Tanisha Ibay was also arrested on scene and charged with possession of Class A drugs and possession of Class B drugs.
