Bodycam shows Ferndale officer pulling out an unconscious driver from a burning vehicle
First responders were dispatched to the parking lot of a retail business in the 1900 block of Main Street about 3:40pm yesterday, Monday, September 18th, due to a report of a vehicle fire with an unconscious person nearby.
Officials with the City of Ferndale said today, Tuesday, September 19th, that a Ferndale Police officer came upon the vehicle on fire and located an unresponsive male inside the vehicle.
The officer immediately took action and pulled the male from the vehicle while flames and heavy smoke were visible from the engine compartment. With the help of a nearby citizen, the officer was able to drag the male to safety.

Whatcom County Fire District 7 personnel also responded and treated the man at the scene before transporting him to PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center for further treatment.
The vehicle appeared to have collided with a concrete base of a light pole.
