Carjacking suspects arrested by Atlanta officers after foot pursuit
On 9/28/22, around 12:15 am, officers responded to 2656 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway in reference to a carjacking. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who stated two male suspects, one armed with a firearm, took his vehicle at gunpoint while he was pumping gas. Units on scene gathered information on the suspect’s description and direction of travel and began canvassing the area extensively.
During the canvass, officers were able to track the car-jacked vehicle to 2500 Center St. where it was parked. Officers later spotted two males walking through the complex on foot matching the exact description of the suspects. One suspect was detained immediately. The second armed suspect attempted to flee from officers on foot but was apprehended a short time later.
Units recovered a firearm from the suspect's possession.
Both suspects were identified as Cornell Harell (DOB 7/96) and Tarrell Sanders (DOB 4/05) They were both taken into custody without incident with several pending arrest charges. Atlanta Police officers are dedicated to making and keeping Atlanta safe and holding lawbreakers accountable.
We applaud the effort of these Z1 officers in identifying and tracking down these dangerous suspects and making these arrests without incident. Job well done!
