Dashcam shows suspected drunken driver confused about being arrested, messes up alphabet
An alleged drunken driver was confused as to why he was pulled over by Florida deputies, before proceeding to mess up the alphabet song after he was taken into custody.
Earlier this week, Marion County deputies responded to a dangerous driver weaving between the lanes on Highway 326 and I-75.
Officials attempted to pull over the driver, Cody Vetter, several times before they initiated a PIT maneuver to stop his truck after their pursuit.
The video shows Vetter slowly exiting the driver’s seat and stumbling out of the truck.
According to the sheriff’s office, Vetter thought he was on southbound I-75 heading to Gainesville when he was actually in Ocala. The driver was placed in the back of a patrol car, apparently confused and unaware of the pursuit, and being in handcuffs.
“I did not run from you … man, if you would have just pulled me over,” Vetter is heard telling the deputy.
During his booking at the jail, Vetter was asked to say the alphabet. He almost got through the whole song before jumping back to “H” and repeating the song from there.
The sheriff’s office said he admitted to having three to five beers earlier in the day while canoeing. Vetter failed his field sobriety exercises and had a blood alcohol content of .232 and .225, nearly three times the legal limit.
