LAPD officers shoots at armed teenaged suspect that was running on the sidewalk
On May 23, 2022, around 6:40 p.m., Newton Patrol officers were in the 2200 block of Washington Boulevard when they saw a man armed with a gun running east on the sidewalk.
The suspect, later identified as 18-year-old Anthony Lamont, ran north in a driveway, pointed his handgun at the officers and fired; resulting in an Officer-Involved Shooting. Lamont continued running and, while still armed with the handgun climbed on top of a large shipping container.
A perimeter was established and Metropolitan Division K-9 and SWAT personnel responded. Lamont surrendered to officers.
A handgun was located and recovered by investigators.
Lamont was not struck by gunfire and no officers were injured during the incident.
