Wanted felony suspect crashes pickup truck when fleeing from Volusia deputies
A deputy in DeLand spotted a pickup driven by a suspect wanted on several felony charges, including armed burglary and grand theft of a firearm.
The driver ended up fleeing from multiple deputies, speeding away recklessly, and ultimately crashed into a pole off Foothill Farms Road in the Orange City area.
Suspect Jason Pelt, 26, was taken into custody without further incident and taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail on his warrants and several new charges, including criminal mischief for crashing through and destroying sections of an area property owner's fence.
