Man arrested after Bratenahl police chase ends with stolen vehicle crashing into apartment building
A 19-year-old man has been arrested after police say an overnight chase ended with a stolen Ram truck crashing into the porch of an apartment building on East 40th Street near Case Court in Cleveland.
The Bratenahl Police Department said it was around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday when the truck passed a marked police vehicle on I-90 “driving in excess of 100 mph.” A pursuit began when police say the driver failed to stop.
“The driver and two other occupants fled from the Ram on foot,” according to a press release from the Bratenahl Police Department. “Officers chased the males on foot and apprehended the driver.”
The driver was identified as a 19-year-old man from Cleveland. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation before he was transported to jail.
Police said he will be charged with multiple felonies, including failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer, improper handling of a firearm and receiving stolen property.
Police say two firearms – including a stolen pistol – were found in the vehicle.
The Cleveland Police Department, Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority police, Cleveland Fire Department and Cleveland EMS provided assistance with the situation.
