Dash cam video captures Orange Beach driver repeatedly ramming ‘Zero Tolerance’ street sign
A 22-year-old Summerdale man is in jail after he was found by Orange Beach police repeatedly ramming his vehicle into a portable sign alerting spring breakers about drinking and drugs.
During the incident, captured on an Orange Beach patrol dash cam, the vehicle police say was driven by Alonzo Duwayne Prim is seen backing up and running into the digital display.
The sign warned spring breakers of “Zero Tolerance, Underage Drinking and Drugs.”
Police responded to the scene at the intersection of Canal Road and Foley Beach Express.
An officer arriving on the scene pulled his police cruiser behind the Toyota SUV, got out and attempted to the driver to stop before running back to the safety of his vehicle as the Toyota continued to ram the sign.
Ultimately, the officer pulled his vehicle closer, exited the patrol vehicle and, with other officers assisting, Prim was taken into custody. He was booked into the Baldwin County Jail just after midnight Tuesday and is awaiting an initial court appearance.
Prim is charged with first-degree criminal mischief, a Class C felony in Alabama, and resisting arrest. Orange Beach police say the sign was valued at $19,500.
If found guilty, Prim faces a jail sentence of up to 10 1/2 years and fines up to $18,000.
