Atlanta's burglary suspect with multiple active arrest warrants is arrested after a foot pursuit
On February 11, 2023, Zone 3 Crime Suppression Officers received information on the location of 49-year-old George Delmar, a burglary suspect with multiple active arrest warrants. Officers responded to 532 Cleveland Avenue and located the man inside an apartment there.
As officers began entering the apartment, the man fled and jumped through a glass window to escape. Officers outside the apartment pursued the man on foot. Tasers were deployed several times, but they did not appear to have an effect on the suspect.
He ran into a nearby apartment building, up the stairs, and jumped through a second-story glass window, falling to the ground below. Nearby officers were able to take him into custody before he had another chance to run. Mr. Delmar has 31 previous arrest cycles, including previous charges for burglary.
He had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest, including multiple warrants for burglary and probation violations. In addition, he was charged with two counts of obstruction, four counts of criminal trespass, and 4 counts of criminal damage to property.
Mr. Delmar was taken to Grady Hospital for treatment of minor injuries he sustained as he jumped through the windows. After being released from Grady, he was transported to the Fulton County Jail.
