Body cam video shows suspect's arrest after Sumter County shooting
Deputies said on Wednesday that there was a shooting in Sumter County.
It happened just before 11:45 a.m. at a Texaco located in Lake Panasofee.
The sheriff's office said the suspect fired shots at another vehicle, and people inside that vehicle returned gunfire.
The suspect, identified as Dequan Scott, fled the scene, but the shooting caused one of his tires to go flat. Deputies later found Scott nearby and arrested him.
Body camera footage shows numerous deputies blocking Scott in before the arrest.
According to the sheriff's office, what appeared to be a gunfight occurred the night before in the area of a Wildwood Community Center, and Scott was involved.
It's still under investigation whether the same group Scott is accused of shooting at on Wednesday was also involved in that.
Scott was treated for non-life-threatening injuries from the shooting.
He was wanted on multiple felony warrants.
Scott faces several charges, including possession of a firearm by a felon, grand theft of a motor vehicle, felony fleeing or attempting to elude and carrying a concealed firearm.
He also faces drug-related charges: possession of cannabis, possession of MDMA and possession of oxycodone.
Law enforcement says they are still looking for tips and information for the other driver
