CHP air unit releases helicopter footage of a pursuit that ended when they drove off the exit ramp

Shortly before midnight, CHP H-30 responded to assist the CHP - Oakland Area officers with an active pursuit.

H-30 arrived overhead, allowing officers to follow from a safer distance. While H-30 followed the suspect vehicle, our flight crew observed one of the occupants throw a gun from the vehicle.

As the vehicle exited Highway 4 at Port Chicago Highway, the suspect vehicle ran off the road and stopped in a grassy area of the off-ramp, where all the occupants were taken into custody. A firearm was recovered by a CHP units.

The California Highway Patrol will be investigating this incident.

(None of the occupants were injured when the vehicle ran off of the road).
