Suspect rams Lincolnshire police car off the road during high speed chase
A man who stole a car and rammed police vehicles off the road during a chase has been jailed.
Darrell Duddin took the keys of his employer's pick-up truck in October and drove it across four counties from Reading towards Lincolnshire at speeds in excess of 115mph (185km/h), Lincolnshire Police said.
He continued even after a stinger deflated one of his wheels, leaving sparks flying behind him, the force added.
The pursuit came to a halt when officers, supported by a police helicopter, boxed his vehicle in on the A46 near Swinderby in Lincolnshire.
The 29-year-old of Beech Court in Lincoln was jailed for 18 months at Lincoln Crown Court after pleading guilty to dangerous driving and driving while disqualified.
He also admitted aggravated vehicle taking, driving without insurance and being in possession of a knife in a public place.
Insp Jason Baxter, from Lincolnshire Roads Policing Team, said: "I am very relieved that no one was seriously injured through Duddin's complete disregard for safety.
"He drove dangerously at excessive speeds, intentionally ramming two police cars and put road users and officers at risk."
