The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has released official dash cam footage showing a deputy-involved pedestrian vehicle crash on the East Side.
The incident happened on Sep. 7, 2024 near Woodlake Parkway and Eisenhauer Road.
According to BCSO, Deputy Benjamin Jaramillo was patrolling in the area when he spotted a gray Dodge Charger pass him without a front license plate. Deputy Jaramillo then pulled in behind the vehicle and saw a temporary license plate.
After running the plates and finding them to be fictitious, the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver appeared to stop at first, then sped off and a pursuit began.
Deputy Jaramillo radioed several times during the pursuit, reporting that the suspect was driving recklessly through traffic, almost striking other motorists. The pursuit continued down Eisenhauer Road, approaching I-35.
The charger turned North from Eisenhauer Road to the I-35 access road, when Deputy Jaramillo lost control of his patrol vehicle and struck a pedestrian who was standing on the concrete island at the intersection, ending the pursuit.
Deputy Jaramillo rendered aid to the pedestrian, a 57-year-old male, who was alert and responsive. The pedestrian was hospitalized and sustained non-life threatening injuries.
