Traffic Stop Leads to Recovered Stolen Gun and Narcotics

On October 9, 2022, Zone 5 Field Investigative Team (F.I.T) officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 300 block of McDaniel St. Upon the officer’s approach to the vehicle, they immediately noticed the smell of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle were detained so officers could conduct a more thorough search for marijuana that was believed to be inside of the vehicle. While conducting their search, officers recovered one handgun that was reported stolen out of Atlanta and an additional handgun that was modified to be fully automatic. Also recovered from inside of the vehicle was an extended magazine, a bookbag containing 518 grams of marijuana, and other miscellaneous items.

Further investigation revealed, the driver, identified as 36-year-old Christopher Hogan was a convicted felon. The passenger, identified as 23-year-old Cordarius Sanders, had an active warrant out of Atlanta for Aggravated Assault.

Mr. Hogan was charged with Possession of Marijuana with the intent to distribute, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Schedule II Substance, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Illegal Tint. Mr. Cordarius Sanders was charged with Possession of Marijuana with the intent to distribute, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a dangerous weapon, and Possession of a Schedule II Substance. Both males were eventually transported to the Fulton County Jail and taken into their custody without incident.
