Fresno, CA - The Fresno Fire Department released on Thursday footage showing the moments leading up to a child’s rescue from the flames during an apartment fire back in October 2024.

Fire crews responded to reports of a fire at an apartment complex on North First Street on Oct. 3, 2024, in Fresno.

The fire department says they were informed that a baby and potentially another person were trapped inside the burning apartment. It only took three minutes for firefighters to arrive at the scene.

Upon arrival, responding crews reported a working fire in a two-story apartment building. The captain on Engine 5 confirmed that someone was trapped, and firefighters quickly went into rescue mode and saved a child trapped inside.

On Thursday, the fire department released the helmet camera footage of that night, which was captured by Firefighter Juan Galindo. The footage shows the moments leading up to the child’s successful rescue and cuts right after Galindo enters through the fiery door because, according to the fire department, the camera overheated and stopped recording.
