Two aggravated assault suspects arrested by Atlanta SWAT team
On October 20th, The Atlanta Police Department’s Fugitive Unit teamed up with SWAT, A.C.E., and our Federal partners in an effort to affect the arrest of suspects wanted in two separate aggravated assaults.
The units first responded to a home in NW Atlanta in search of Syncere Friends. Mr. Friends was previously identified by an external department as a suspect in a Delaware aggravated assault, where multiple victims were shot. Later, detectives with the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force had developed leads that Mr. Friends may have been staying in NW Atlanta, and at approximately 05:38 on the morning of 10/20, officers were able to take him into custody without incident.
From there, officers responded to another home in NW Atlanta in search of Andre Hill, who was wanted in relation to a May 14th, aggravated assault at 1425 Joseph E Boone Blvd. NW. The SWAT Team took lead in serving the search warrant obtained by Fugitive and ACE units and were able to locate Mr. Hill, who surrendered without incident. Officers also recovered a handgun as a result of the warrant.
The coordination between the department’s Fugitive, SWAT, and ACE units, along with assistance from our Federal partners with the FBI, and Secret Service among others, continues to produce results in our efforts to address gangs and guns in the City of Atlanta. Both suspects taken into custody on 10/20 were not only aggravated assault suspects but were also known to have gang affiliations. We are proud of the work of the units involved in these apprehensions as they work to Make the City of Atlanta safer.
