LAPD releases body cam footage of an use of force incident with a K9 arrest
On July 5, 2022, at around 10:20 p.m., Rampart uniformed Gang Enforcement Detail (GED) officers observed a known gang member, who had an active fugitive warrant. Officers approached the suspect who turned and fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, officers established a perimeter and requested the assistance of Metropolitan (Metro) K9. Metro K9 officers conducted a search and located the suspect hiding in shrubbery behind the 1500 block of West Temple Avenue resulting in a K9 contact.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital. The suspect was admitted to the hospital for injuries sustained to his right arm during the K9 contact.
A 380 semi-automatic handgun was recovered at scene.
No officers were injured during this incident.
