Dash cam video shows Kansas police use grappler to stop stolen car
Police in northeast Kansas recently attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that turned out to be stolen. The driver fled, but was no match for the grappler.
The Lenexa Police Department said Wednesday that two day-shift sergeants encountered the vehicle while on patrol. The date and location weren't provided.
Video posted on social media show the brief pursuit and the Grappler Police Bumper being deployed to stop the stolen car.
The driver, who was not identified, was arrested and charged with the stolen vehicle, fleeing police, possession of meth and drug paraphernalia, police said.
"More great work by our officers to combat crime in our community, and doing so safely and effectively using the latest tools and resources."
The grappler deploys a heavy-duty nylon net from the front of a police vehicle, and the net wraps around the rear tire of a suspect vehicle and helps bring it to a controlled stop.
