Dashcam and bodycam video shows West Allis scooter chase, arrest
On the morning of May 10, a Milwaukee man, who later told police he was on his way to pickup his girlfriend, was caught on police dashcam speeding off on an electric scooter.
"Stop, dude. You're going to get messed up, man," an officer can be heard yelling at him.
WISN 12 News obtained footage from West Allis police, showing the moment police say a sergeant spotted the scooter going 40 mph near south 87th and West National Avenue just before 10 a.m.
After following him all the way to the train tracks, five police squad cars joined in the chase.
Their video shows the man on the scooter running stop signs and traveling on the sidewalk up to 30 mph, evading officers.
Eventually, his escapade came to an end.
Police did arrest him, but told WISN 12 News that prosecutors did not charge him. Instead, the district attorney's office put him in an early prevention program.
