Suspect hits officer with baton on head, takes his taser after a chase and foot pursuit in Wauwatosa
Charges have been filed in a police chase that ended with an attack on a Wauwatosa police officer.
An officer's body camera captured the incident as a man is seen taking the officer's taser from him.
The officer was later hit repeatedly in the head with his own baton but was eventually able to arrest 31-year-old Patrick Marion of Milwaukee.
"The defendant took the baton from the officer, hit the officer in the head numerous times. The officer had to go to the hospital with a concussion. Also had injuries to his hands and abdomen. This is a very severe incident," Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney Gregg Herman said.
Marion appeared in court Wednesday, charged with vehicle operator fleeing/eluding officer resulting in bodily harm, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, disarming a peace officer and battery to a law enforcement officer.
Before the fight with the officer, police said Marion refused to stop his car when an officer tried to pull him over for driving without plates.
The chase ended in a crash, which seriously injured the other driver.
Police said they also found stolen mail in Marion's car.
He remains in jail on $10,000 bail.
