Body cam shows LASD deputy fatally shoot man after attacking the deputy near Macy's at Valencia mall
A man shot outside the Westfield Valencia Town Center Wednesday night in an L.A. County sheriff's deputy-involved incident was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene outside the Macy's department store entrance to the mall on the 24000 block of Valencia Blvd. for a trespassing call at 10:44 p.m.
Deputies confronted a man at the location. Investigators said the suspect assaulted one deputy. A deputy then fired, striking the suspect.
The suspect was loaded into the back of an ambulance and taken to a nearby hospital. A female deputy was reportedly also injured and hospitalized.
Thursday morning, investigators said the suspect was pronounced dead at the hospital. The female deputy was treated at a hospital and released.
No further information was released about the trespassing suspect or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
The mall was reportedly closed at the time of the shooting.
