Guns recovered when a speeding stolen Dodge Challenger tried to evade State police
Troopers were patrolling W/B I-94 near Grand River Ave and observed a speeding Dodge Challenger 392 Scat Pack. A check of the license plate revealed the vehicle was stolen. Troopers activated their siren & emergency lights and the driver did not stop.
Troopers pursued the stolen vehicle until Trooper Two was in position overhead. At that time, ground units stopped pursuing. Trooper Two tracked the suspects to the Citgo gas station (3801 W Vernor, Detroit).
Troopers blocked in the Challenger at the gas station and took the suspects in to custody. The 20-year-old passenger from Detroit was found to have a loaded Glock 45 caliber pistol in his pants pocket and a stolen loaded Draco pistol near the passenger seat.
Troopers discovered a loaded 9 mm semi-automatic pistol in the glove compartment. The suspects did not possess a CPL, and their cell phones were seized. The passenger and the 24-year-old driver from Detroit were lodged at the Detroit Detention Center pending prosecutor’s review.
