Bodycam shows DUI arrest of ex-Packers RB Eddie Lacy in Scottsdale
New body camera video shows the moment a former NFL player was arrested for extreme DUI in Scottsdale last month.
On Sept. 30, a Scottsdale police officer stated a concerned witness called 911 to report former Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy weaving in between lanes while driving.
“I just, I was literally in my own lane. I have to go to my own place right here,” Lacy says while appearing to slur his words.
He then tells the officer that he flew in from Green Bay, Wisconsin, earlier that day. “Any alcohol tonight?” the officer asks. “I mean, I drank on the flight, and that’s it, I guess,” he replies.
The officer then asks Lacy what time he drank and what time his flight landed, which he cannot answer. “Only one drink?” the officer says. “Yeah,” he says. What did you have?” she asks. “Oh, uh, tequila,” he replies.
The former NFL player claimed it was only a single shot of tequila.
The two officers repeatedly ask Lacy to step out of the vehicle, but he hesitates. “Wait, what? No, I didn’t do anything bad, driving. I had drinks at the airport, but I live right there,” he said. “I don’t have any concerns, I just got to go over there,” he says while pointing at the nearby apartment complex.
The officer asks Lacy about any recent injuries. “I played football. I have a lot of head injuries,” he replied.
He tells the officer he’s a retired Green Bay Packers football player and was in Wisconsin for alum weekend.
The officer pulls out a breathalyzer and tells Lacy to blow into it. “I was drinking the whole weekend,” he said. “I’m asking about today,” the officer said. “The over the weekend alcohol goes out of your system fast.” “Not technically, but I’ll do it,” he claims.
Lacy tells the officer he had a previous DUI.
“What do you think you’re at?” the officer asks, referencing the breathalyzer. “I don’t know. I think I’m trying to go...” he said. “You told me you only had one shot, and I know you didn’t only have one shot,” she says. “I was drinking on a flight,” he said.
“So you’re at a .325,” the officer says while taking Lacy into custody. “You’re under arrest for DUI.”
He’s then loaded into the back of a Scottsdale patrol car. “It’s very difficult to sit in these,” Lacy says, referencing the handcuffs. “It’s not meant to be comfortable,” the officer replies. “Right, which is never why I’m back here until y’all did it,” he said.
Lacy was arrested on the following charges and taken to Scottsdale City Jail.
* DUI – impaired to the slightest degree
* DUI – BAC of .08 or more
* Extreme DUI – BAC .15 or more
* Extreme DUI – BAC .20 or more
* Liquor – possess open container in vehicle
