Dashcam video shows Kaysville officer crashing into and stopping wrong-way driver on I-15
By: The incident occurred on Feb. 9 around 2 a.m. near Farmington in Davis County. Reports indicated a wrong-way driver heading north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 15.
Responding to the call, Officer Kalawai Delos Santos of the Kaysville Police Department located the wrong-way vehicle on the southbound 200 North on-ramp.
In the video, you can see the moment Delos Santos crosses the interstate and intercepts the vehicle, colliding with it to stop its dangerous course.
The crash caused significant damage to the police vehicle, and Delos Santos suffered moderate to serious injuries. He was extricated by medics and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Delos Santos was released from the hospital and returned back to work on Monday.
