A man wanted in Houston County for attempted murder charges was arrested on Wednesday in Atlanta, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

37-year-old Richard Mancil was arrested after Zone 5 F.I.T. Officers got reports of a wanted person in the area of McDaniel St. and Peter St. around 3 p.m.

Mancil had active warrants out of Houston County for Aggravated Assault (Strangulation), Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder, and Burglary with the intent to Commit a Theft (1st Degree), Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Felony, Aggravated Battery, and Elder Abuse.

Officers coordinated a perimeter around the area, and then approached Mancil and detained him for ID and warrant verification.

They confirmed Mancil's many warrants out of Houston County and arrested him.

Mancil was taken to the Fulton County Jail, and is awaiting a transfer back to Houston County.

In the post, APD said they would like to thank the Zone 5 F.I.T. Team and Fugitive Unit for "acting swiftly and arresting the suspect once warrant intel was received from the Houston Sheriff’s Office."
