Dashcam video shows suspect shooting at Englewood officers during police chase
An early morning police chase on Thursday led to shots fired at an Englewood police officer. This marks the third time in the past three weeks that Englewood officers have been shot at during traffic stops, according to the department.
Just after 4 a.m., a police officer attempted to pull over a stolen vehicle near South Broadway and West Bates Avenue, where they said the suspect refused to stop. The area is a few blocks west of Bates-Logan Park.
The department provided a dash camera video that shows a police car chasing a white pickup truck. The police car had its sirens on while the truck appears to be speeding downside streets in Englewood.
Police said the truck was a stolen white 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup with a Colorado license plate: 611-XVN.
According to the department, the vehicle drove through a neighborhood, down West Dartmouth Avenue, and allegedly fired several shots at the pursuing officers. After passing South Santa Fe Drive, police said the suspect fired shots again.
The suspect was able to flee the scene after police said they lost the suspect near South Zuni Street and West Bates Avenue.
No officers were hurt, according to police.
