Bodycam video shows Georgia police officer chasing after suspect armed with machete
Police in Georgia are showing what happened when a suspicious person wielding a machete led officers on a chase.
The Atlanta Police Department shared bodycam video Tuesday from a July 25 incident on Memorial Drive SE.
According to police, officers were called out after a witness said someone was trying to burglarize a building.
As the first officer arrives and begins searching around the building, a witness alerts him that the suspicious person is running away.
A chase ensues, during which the officer realizes the man is carrying a machete.
He tries to use his Taser, but it doesn't work.
Eventually, the man is tracked to a nearby homeless camp. He refuses to come out of a tent, but eventually drops the weapon and is taken into custody after other officers respond.
The man was identified as Jeffrey Furlow, 37. He was charged with loitering or prowling and obstruction of an officer.
