Menifee officer shoots at suspect when he opened the door with a gun in his hand

The Menifee Police Department has released a Community Incident Debrief Video of an officer-involved shooting incident originally reported here on Sept. 17.

The suspect was not struck by gunfire, and the officer involved was placed on paid administrative leave during the investigation. The suspect, 19-year-old Robert Arres of Menifee, was arrested for possession of an unserialized and unregistered firearm.

The video, which shows views from officer body cams, is being provided for information to the community as the investigation continues. Police Chief Ed Varso gives an update on the status of the incident in the introduction to the video.
