A Peep Behind The Scenes -1946
By: Briefly, Brittan is in it's 6th year of Total Warfare and is fast becoming financially broke in so doing.. part of the expense was manufacturing war materiel and railway trucks engines and carriages for various countries.. this old film show behind the scenes look at the Southern Railway Worksop's being turned over to provide these much needed goods - the only thing being no-one had any money to purchase these items so they were given to Russia who were 'our ally' back in the mid forties.. By the end of the war the UK was totally broke and if it hadn't have been for massive (repayable) loans from the USA the people of Britain would have starved to death and the winter of 1946 was one of the coldest on record. Anyway interesting old film showing how these goods were manufactured in the railway workshops. Also, some interesting scenes of locomotives manufactured in the USA being readied for use in Engerland and also in Europe (spitsonfloor)
