City of Atlanta Councilman Dustin Hillis Helps Save Life During APD Ride Along
On 6/29/22, around 6:41 pm, Public Safety Chair, and City of Atlanta Councilman Dustin Hillis joined The Atlanta Police Department’s interim Chief Darin Schierbaum on a ride-along in Zone 5. During their tour, they responded to a medical call involving a male patient in medical distress. Councilman Hillis didn’t hesitate to assess the situation. He realized the patient was struggling to breathe and acted swiftly by rendering aid to the patient.
Using his knowledge, training, and experience as a registered nurse, Councilman Hillis maintained an open airway on the patient as units administered Narcan. Thankfully, with Councilman Hillis’s medical assistance, the Narcan dose was effective enough to resuscitate the male. Grady EMS services then transported the male to the hospital. He was alert, conscious, and breathing.
We’d like to take the time to spotlight and Thank Public Safety Chair and City of Atlanta Councilman Dustin Hillis and the Atlanta Police Department’s Interim Chief Schierbaum for their swift response to the call and for assisting a person in distress. We’d also like to Thank the Zone 5 officers for their outstanding teamwork. Great job everyone!
