Murder suspect is quickly arrested in Atlanta with the help of technology
On Thursday, October 27,2022, at 3:36 p.m., Atlanta Police responded to a person shot call at 735 Joseph E. Boone Blvd NW. Upon arrival, officers located a male inside a vehicle, deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. Using FUSUS technology and the city’s integrated cameras, officers were able to obtain a description of the suspect and get the license plate number from the suspect’s vehicle seen fleeing from the scene.
Less than two hours after the brazen homicide, officers tracked down the suspect at his Atlanta residence and took him into custody. Homicide investigators interviewed the suspect and were able to develop probable cause to secure an arrest warrant for 49-year-old Terrence Heard for the charges of Felony Murder and Possession of a Firearm during a Commission of a Felony. He was transported to the Fulton County Jail without incident.
We are proud of the initial responding officers from Zone 1 and Zone 5 and also Zone 4 and APEX officers in finding and arresting this dangerous suspect. Their use of the technological crime-fighting resources available to them is to be applauded. The Atlanta Police Department will continue to use all available tools and resources to fight crime, find and arrest lawbreakers and keep our city safe. If you didn’t know, now you know.
