Body-Cam Video Released In Fatal Shootout Following Shooting Of Woman In Wesley Chapel
Pasco Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting in Wesley Chapel in which an adult female was shot. Following this shooting, the suspect drove away from the scene while also shooting at responding deputies.
PSO deputies followed the suspect into Hillsborough County, where the suspect, an adult male, crashed the car he was driving into a pond and ran away from it while still firing at deputies.
The suspect was ultimately shot after continuing to fire shots at law enforcement officers from PSO, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, and Florida Highway Patrol.
The suspect died as a result of the shooting.
The original shooting was domestic in nature. The situation originally began in Hernando County before the suspect and victim traveled to the Tall Grass Dr. area of Wesley Chapel, where the victim was shot.
The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
No law enforcement officers, including PSO deputies, were injured during the incident. There is no threat to the public. Per protocol, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the deputy-involved shooting aspect of this case. The PSO deputies involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave with pay during FDLE’s investigation, as is standard protocol. The investigation is ongoing.
