A security camera in northwestern India has captured the dramatic moment a stray dog fought off a wild leopard.

Footage filmed on January 22 in Rajasmand in the state of Rajasthan shows the big cat sneak up on the dog outside a closed petrol station shop.

The leopard pounces on the canine and goes for the jugular but the brave mutt fights back and chases the snarling intruder away.

Leopards in India are well known to stray into urban areas to hunt dogs.
