Man leads police on chase before three vehicle crash in Piqua
A Shelby County man is facing several charges after a police chase ended in a three-vehicle crash in Piqua Tuesday.
Officers responded to a traffic crash involving a black pickup truck that hit a retaining wall and electric box in the city's downtown area, according to Piqua Police Deputy Chief Marty Grove.
Grove said when officers arrived, the vehicle left the scene and wouldn't stop, which led to a small pursuit.
Dayton 24/7 Now requested cruiser camera footage showing the moments leading up to the crash.
The truck turned onto High Street, and rapidly accelerated. Police ended their pursuit.
The truck ran a red light at the intersection of Sunset Drive and High Street and struck a UPS truck, flipping on its side, and another vehicle stopped at the light, Grove said.
Tony Creager, 52, from Anna is being charged with OVI, red light violation, reckless operation, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to comply.
Creager is facing charges of failure to control and leaving the scene of a crash relating to the first accident, according to Grove.
