Rochester police officer knocks loaded gun out of man's hand outside East End bar
A man faces charges after a police officer knocked a loaded handgun out of his hand outside an East End bar early Sunday.
Officers on bar detail responded to a report of a disturbance on Lawrence Street around 2:20 a.m.
Body camera video appears to show the officer approaching a man and wrestling the gun away from him.
Police said club security helped officers take Jonathan Dobbs, 42, into custody.
Officers recovered an FN 57, 5.7x28 caliber handgun loaded with 20 rounds. Police said the high-velocity round is capable of piercing body armor.
Dobbs is charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Police said he will also be served with warrants from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the State of Florida. He was taken to the Monroe County Jail.
