LMPD releases body cam footage of man fatally shot by police in Clifton
By: The Louisville Metro Police Department has released body cam footage of an officer shooting and killing a man in the Clifton neighbor.
LMPD said it received calls for shots fired on Aug. 3 in the area of 2000 New Main Street.
The first officer arrived on the scene around 10 p.m. LMPD said an officer reported on the radio that shots were being fired at them. Officers responded to both Frankfort Avenue and New Main Street, according to LMPD.
Police said that 46-year-old James Monti was found in an alley and pointed a handgun at LMPD Officer Roberto Cedeno.
Footage released by LMPD showed Monti on the ground in the alley, pointing something at Cedeno.
Cedeno then shot Monti, and a loaded firearm was found in Monti's right hand. Police said they also found a loaded magazine in Monti's possession.
Officers can then be seen providing aid to Monti while they called for EMS.
Monti was taken to UofL Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
