Austin police release body cam footage from deadly Dec. 26 shooting of man with BB gun
The Austin Police Department released body camera footage from the deadly December 26, 2023, shooting of a 63-year-old man wielding a BB gun in Northeast Austin.
It happened at 1501 E. Howard Lane at around 1:18 p.m.
APD received a 9-1-1 call claiming a man was shooting a rifle in the parking lot of the apartment complex, and then the caller hung up without providing more details.
According to court documents, the caller was later identified as Konrad Farad Khorshahian.
APD Officer Andrew Horne arrived at the scene, and then Officer Brian Epps followed shortly.
The video shows APD Officer Andrew Horne shooting Khorshahian after he pointed what looked like a rifle at them as they drove through the lot.
Officer Horne is heard yelling multiple times for Khorshahian to drop his weapon, and then Officer Horne shoots his gun twice, killing Khorshahian.
During the incident, Khorshahian yelled at the officers that he wanted them to shoot him.
The weapon Khorshahian was carrying was later determined to be a BB gun rifle.
No other citizens or officers were injured during the incident.
