Mesa police officer uses his own car to protect a woman who had a medical emergency while driving
When a woman started to suffer a stroke while she was driving in Mesa, one police officer's quick thinking stopped what could have been a life-threatening situation on the road.
On Aug. 15, a 911 caller reported that she saw the woman driving erratically and worried that she was going to hit someone.
A sergeant with the Mesa Police Department was able to find the woman's car and pulled her over on the roadside. It was at that point that the woman started to drive off, into oncoming traffic.
Fortunately, the sergeant was able to pull his patrol vehicle around and block her car, disabling it. When he approached to knock on the window, the woman was unable to respond.
It was later learned that the woman had a stroke and was quickly rushed to the hospital for treatment.
