'In Search Of Souls': Wreck Diving - St Thomas Aquinas
By: Caution: This video covers the Philippine Technical Divers who were brought in to search the wreck of the 'MV St Thomas Aquinas'. Briefly: the 'MV St Thomas Aquinas' was involved in a collision at sea with the 'MV Sulpicio'... the loss was well over 150 souls on board with another 150 missing or unaccounted for.. what made it worse was the fact the 'MV St Thomas' had nearly 150 young people aboard...some sort of celebration voyage. When the collision happened the Captain told everyone via the speaker system to remain in their cabins and help would soon arise... only it never arrived. The ship had been 'refitted' with two extra passenger decks and the vehicle cargo hold was also enlarged. Some people said it was grossly overweight and in danger of capsizing too in the event of an accident which is what happened. Like the other Captain the ships Captain and crew were first off after telling everyone else to stay where they were. Not long afterwards the ship turned turtle and most of them met their sad end. The fact the Captain was first off did not go down well and the government put him on trial for which he went on to get a well deserved Life Sentence. So be aware this is a sad and meaningful vid - I just hope itemfix allows it through for their memories need to be shared world-wide.. apparently, the divers who worked on the wreck retrieving the young people and their belongings were terribly traumatised.
