Brecksville, OH - The Brecksville Police Department says officers took a suspect into custody on Thursday after he allegedly started a pursuit while driving a stolen car and then crashed into another vehicle.

According to a release from Brecksville Police Chief Stan Korinek, the incident began at approximately 2:45 p.m. as an officer attempted to stop the driver of a Ford Escape for a speed violation on Brecksville Road northbound near Chippewa Road.

"The vehicle failed to stop, and a vehicular pursuit was initiated," Korinek wrote.

Police report that the fleeing Ford Escape crashed into a car stopped in the turning lane on Brecksville Road while waiting to make a left turn onto Wallings Road westbound.

"A male exited the pursued vehicle and fled from the crash," Korinek added. "He was quickly apprehended by Brecksville police officers with the assistance of the Brecksville K9 Boss."

Officials add that two people from the car that was hit by the Escape were evaluated by Brecksville Fire medics, but were not transported to a hospital. However, the driver of the fleeing vehicle was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

The suspect has not yet been identified.
