Fairbanks body camera footage shows pursuit and arrest of assault suspect
The Fairbanks Police Department (FPD) received a report of an assault at a home on South Cushman St. on Saturday, Feb. 24.
The victim told FPD that 41 year old Nathan Carroll was in the apartment and had threatened to shoot him with his firearm, a .22 caliber handgun. Carrol had also shot two TVs in the apartment.
When law enforcement officers arrived to the scene, the victim was able to leave the apartment. He told the officers Carrol was still inside the apartment with the handgun.
Carroll ran outside shortly afterward and tried to escape by climbing over the chain link fence. He did not make it to the top before officers pulled him down and handcuffed him.
Carrol was taken into custody and remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court for a previous second degree assault charge. He was additionally charged with third degree assault, weapons misconduct, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
