Man arrested after a traffic stop discovers gun and bags of narcotics
On August 4th, 2022, at approximately 10:20 PM, Atlanta Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the driver of a black sedan, as the driver ran a red light at the intersection of 10th St. and Williams St. The driver initially came to a stop, but as the officer approached his vehicle, the driver fled.
Shortly thereafter, another officer in the area was able to locate the vehicle and conducted a second traffic stop. The driver complied with the stop by the second officer and was taken into custody without further incident.
After the arrest, a search of the vehicle yielded a handgun and approximately four pounds of illegal narcotics between the trunk and the passenger compartment. The arrestee was identified as Gregory Baranco. Baranco was charged accordingly and transported to Fulton County Jail.
The Atlanta Police Department is proud of the work of our officers, who put their lives on the line each day to keep our city safe.
