Drugs found in the vehicle after driver tried to take off on foot
Around 9:30 p.m. last night, Deputy Smith conducted a traffic stop in DeLand where the driver briefly resisted and tried to take off running.
Deputy Smith and Sgt. Huffman were able to get Sedrick Lacey (DOB 2/23/1982) into custody quickly and safely. A variety of items were recovered from the car, including bags of heroin/fentanyl and crystal meth and an assortment of pills. A backpack containing various bags of marijuana and high concentrate THC products was also recovered.
Lacey was arrested on several charges including trafficking in fentanyl, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, and resisting an officer without violence, along with possession with intent to sell the pills, marijuana and THC products. He was issued warnings for his traffic infractions and taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail, where he remains in custody with a bond of $61,000.
