Drug trafficker arrested after leading Volusia deputies on a chase
Around 3:30 a.m. Monday, Carlos Angulo (24, Eustis) took off from Sgt. Woell and Deputy Dolan as they conducted extra patrols at Motel 6 in Daytona Beach.
Deputy Webb spotted the car heading into DeLand at 90 mph, and Deputy Stubblefield was able to deploy stop sticks.
Angulo bailed out and took off on foot, but after a track by deputies Webb and Whitson, he was apprehended by K-9 Red and taken to the hospital for treatment of bite injuries.
Deputies recovered 170 grams of meth, 89 Oxycodone, several packages of marijuana and a stolen handgun, which will result in more charges for Angulo in addition to fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement, driving with a suspended license, illegal window tint and violation of probation.
