Just after the war and Britain was on it's knees and only held afloat by massive repayable loans from the USA (which incidentally were finally all repaid sometime after about 2005-ish). Britain had bled itself dry after 6 years of total warfare (of which it should never have got involved with - however that is another story for another time).....this dark attitude prevailed as there was little work for the returning men to return to....hence the government kick starting the steel company of Wales regeneration scheme....this film from the British Film Institutes Archives tells all without me pontificating about it
Settle back and Get stuck in ...it starts slow but gathers pace but be aware it's a long-un - and a true classic of time gone by
