Dash, bodycam shows pursuit for a minor traffic violation that ended with arrest of a robbery suspect
One of our deputies attempted to stop a truck on I5 for speeding 75/60mph zone and expired tabs from 2020. The vehicle fled, and a pursuit was authorized.
The vehicle fled down Pacific Ave and Fones Rd, eventually ending in a neighborhood when the suspect realized deputies weren’t discontinuing and letting him drive away. The suspect bailed on foot and a foot pursuit was initiated, resulting in the suspect surrendering without further incident.
After confirming the identity of the suspect, deputies learned he had multiple warrants out of King County for Robbery 2nd degree and domestic violence crimes. He was booked into Thurston County on his warrants, attempting to elude, and driving on a suspended license.
This is yet another example of a pursuit for a “minor” traffic infraction leading to the capture of a dangerous individual we do not want roaming free on our streets at 3AM in Thurston County.
