4 teenagers taken into custody after crashing stolen Hyundai into pole
Four teenagers in a stolen vehicle were taken into custody after a police pursuit ended in Cleveland.
Parma Police responded to the Westview Acres apartment complex on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at around 2 a.m. after reports of suspicious activity.
Upon arriving, an officer saw a Hyundai Elantra and KIA SUV trying to flee the area quickly. Parma Police say that the Hyundai Elantra had been reported stolen from Bedford, while the Kia was reported stolen from Warrensville Heights.
"Just prior to the officer’s arrival, the group in the Kia attempted to steal another vehicle within the complex while occupants of the stolen Elantra were standing by," said officials in a media release.
Parma Police ensued a chase, but the vehicles ended up splitting away. An officer was able to follow the Hyundai Elantra, with the pursuit ending in the 3800 block of West 79th Street in Cleveland after the vehicle struck a utility pole.
Upon crashing into the pole, the driver and passenger fled from the scene.
18-year-old Raymon Johnson from Cleveland, 19-year-old Tarae Graves from South Euclid and a 17-year-old girl were all in the back seat of the stolen vehicle and were taken into custody.
Parma Police found the front seat passenger, 18-year-old Trinity Tate from Cleveland nearby hiding in a yard and was taken into custody.
At this time, the driver, an unknown juvenile boy, has not been charged.
