Atlanta air unit and ACE arrests carjacking suspects after a high speed chase
By: On October 26th, 2022, at approximately 6:15 PM, Zone 1 Officers and the Auto Crimes Enforcement Unit (A.C.E.) conducted a joint detail to combat auto crimes in the 800 block of Joseph E Boone Blvd. NW. Zone 1 officers and the APD Air Unit observed a 2018 Toyota Corolla that was recently carjacked vehicle traveling in the area.
A.C.E. units gained position on the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and took off at a high rate of speed, committing several traffic infractions and striking multiple vehicles. A.C.E. units were authorized to pursue the vehicle as it had recently been carjacked.
During the pursuit, the driver of the carjacked vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway, striking a mailbox.
The vehicle came to a rest near a wooded area where officers immediately exited their vehicles and pursued the suspects on foot as the air unit provided aerial surveillance. All the occupants were caught and arrested. One of the occupants was wanted in Chicago on other charges. We applaud the work of the air unit, ACE, the Zone 1 Crime Suppression Unit, and the X K-9 Unit. Job well done by all!
The arrestees were identified and charged as follows:
Deion WADE (DOB: 7/2001 - IL)
Charges: Theft by Receiving (Auto), Fleeing & Eluding, and Obstruction of Officers
Terrance BEEKS (DOB: 12/2001 - IL)
Charges: Theft by Receiving (Auto), Obstruction of Officers, and a warrant with full extradition for a weapon related offense that was issued on 5/6/2022 by the Cook CO SO.
Jamarrie TONEY (DOB: 9/2004 - IL)
Charges: Theft by Receiving (Auto), and Obstruction of Officers
The APD Robbery Unit communicated with the Chicago PD and received information that all males were criminal street gang affiliates.
The following items were recovered:
• 2018 Toyota Corolla (victim’s vehicle),
• Key fob to victim’s vehicle (in possession of Mr. BEEKS)
• Glock handgun
• ie and multi-color mask.
