Body cam video captures the moment a deputy pulled a missing 5-year-old boy from a lake in Deltona Tuesday night.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office (VSO) said at around 7:30 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a missing child on Valmont Lane. The boy's father said his son— who has autism— escaped the house through a second-story door, which set off an alarm.

Noticing the child was missing, the familybegan looking, asked neighbors for help, and called 911, VSO said.

Deputies began to search the house and surrounding area, but the boy was nowhere to be found. Deputies said the boy was drawn to water, knowing this, deputies began checking bodies of water near the neighborhood. Deputies headed to a pond a few blocks over behind Toluca Court.

Around 7:48 p.m., Deputy Wes Brough heard a voice and spotted the boy out in the water, hanging onto a log.

Body camera video shows Deputy Brough reacted without a moment's notice to get to the boy. Once the child was in his arms, Brough can be seen walking back to shore with a look of relief on his face.

Once the young boy was medically cleared, he was reunited with his family, the sheriff's office said.

VSO confirmed that the boy'sfamily had taken several measures to secure the house, including the alarm on the door that immediately alerted them the boy had gone missing.
